About Us

Greenfield is one of the picturesque Saddleworth villages nestling in the foothills of the Pennines, straddling one of the trans-Pennine roads (the A635),
13 miles from Manchester to the south west and 15 miles from Huddersfield to the north east. The recently renovated and reopened
Huddersfield Narrow canal passes through the village.

This area was originally in the West Riding of Yorkshire and, despite being on the Lancashire side of the Pennines, many residents cling to their
Yorkshire heritage - and are proud that children born in Saddleworth district can still qualify as 'Yorkshire born and bred'.

Greenfield CC resolve this 'Battle of the Roses' by being affiliated to both Yorkshire & Lancashire County Cricket Clubs.

Originally known as Bentfield Cricket Club (circa 1873), Greenfield Cricket Club was founded on the 23rd March 1899 out of the ashes of
Bentfield CC and became a founder member of the Saddleworth & District Cricket League, and has an unbroken membership to this date.

The fortunes of the club have ebbed and flowed during the intervening years but cricket has been played continuously for over 100yrs (World Wars excepted
and facilities are always being improved or replaced.

That's enough about the past - if you want anymore info we can send you some through the post, just e-mail us your address & we'll be happy to
